When can I visit the campus?
The Admissions Office offers tours Monday through Saturday. For specific times, please contact the Admissions Office at 516-299-2900 or e-mail email@example.com or check the tours and events link on this website.
Do you hold open houses?
Yes. We hold an open house in the Fall- generally in November and Discovery Days in the months of April and May. However, you and your family are invited to attend information sessions and Post Preview Days, which are offered throughout the year. For further information, please view our tours and events Web site or call the Admissions Office at 1-800-LIU-PLAN or 516-299-2900.
Can I apply online?
Yes. For an application, click on the Apply Now button located in the upper right corner. You may also download the application and have it sent with the rest of material from your guidance counselor.
Are interviews required for admission?
Interviews are not required for admission. We recommend that students and their parents visit our campus and meet with an admissions counselor as part of their visit. Admissions counselors are available to meet with families during regular office hours. Please contact the Admissions Office to schedule an appointment.
Are letters of recommendation required?
One letter of recommendation is required. Students may submit one to two additional letters of recommendation if they wish. All submitted recommendations will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee and taken into consideration as part of the final admission decision.
Does LIU Post take into consideration a rigorous academic course load in high school?
Students are encouraged to challenge themselves with a rigorous course load throughout their high school career placing particular focus on English, math, science, social science and a second language. We evaluate each student within their high school academic environment and then against the applicant pool overall, being sure to always take into account individual learning styles and unique situations.
LIU Post recommends the following in its admissions evaluation:
4 years of English
3 years of Math
3 years of Science (2 years must be a laboratory science)
3 years of Social Studies
2 years of Foreign Language
How does LIU Post weigh extracurricular activities?
The most important aspect in the admissions profile is a student’s high school academic preparation. However, the admissions committee does like to see involvement in extra-curricular activities outside of the classroom setting. The ideal candidate has consistent involvement in several activities throughout their high school career. Extracurricular involvement may include, but is not limited to school clubs, varsity or intramural sports, community service, internships or employment. Consistent involvement in several activities over the course of the past four years is preferred. Demonstration of commitment and leadership in all areas of outside of school involvement is encouraged.

High school students seeking admission to LIU Post are required to have:
Average GPA: Solid “B” / 82–85 / 3.0
Average SAT: Math & Critical Reading combined: 1000

Is there a tuition or housing deposit required?
We require a non-refundable tuition deposit of $200. We also require a non-refundable housing deposit of $300 if you choose to live on campus. Tuition and housing deposits are due by May 1.
How soon will I be notified of my admission decision?
As soon as the Admissions Office receives all credentials, we will make a decision within a month after December 1.
What if I take the SAT or ACT more than once?
We will take the highest of each test score.
Are freshmen allowed to have cars?
Yes. You can register your car with the Department of Public Safety.
