S.C.A.L.E. - Secondary Collegiate Articulated Learning Experience Program

S.C.A.L.E. StudentThis program provides academically talented high school students with the opportunity to get a head start on their college education by taking university-level courses in the comfort of their high school classroom. The Secondary Collegiate Articulated Learning Experience Program (S.C.A.L.E.) enables qualified high school juniors and seniors to earn college credit at a significantly discounted rate. The credits can then be transferred to the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University and other eligible universities, which helps students to save on college tuition. In many instances, some students can reduce their college education studies and expenses by one year. S.C.A.L.E. courses carry dual credit – high school units applicable toward the high school diploma and college credits applicable toward a bachelor’s degree. High school seniors who complete six credit hours and maintain a cumulative 3.0 grade point average are eligible for a four-year S.C.A.L.E. scholarship to C.W. Post.

More than 4,000 motivated high school students across Long Island participate in the S.C.A.L.E. program. S.C.A.L.E. has worked with area high schools for more than 30 years and today offers more than 35 courses in 20 academic departments through select secondary schools in the New York metro area. S.C.A.L.E. students can begin college with two, three or more courses in business, communications, computer science, English, foreign language, mathematics, or other subjects already completed.

S.C.A.L.E. can help pave the way for a successful and rewarding college experience.

“I started my freshman year having already earned 12 college credits in the S.C.A.L.E. program. It’s a great feeling to be ahead of the game right from the start. The S.C.A.L.E. courses also were helpful because they taught me how to write at the college level.”
