Graduates are invited to participate in the Graduation Pledge of Social and Environmental Responsibility. If they choose to do so, they are making a promise to evaluate the broader consequences of any job they take. This is the eighth year that students can volunteer to take the Green and Gold Pledge which states, “As a graduate of Long Island University, I pledge to be attentive to the social and environmental consequences of my actions and to improve these aspects in my home, work and community.” By taking this voluntary pledge, you will be joining students from other prestigious regional higher learning institutions, including Columbia University, Hunter College, Fordham University and Manhattan College, as well as over 130 universities nationwide. Students can voluntarily sign up through their academic advisor when they file for graduation. Green pledge ribbons will be distributed on Commencement Day in Humanities Hall.
