International Scholarships (Descriptions)

International Freshman Scholarships

If you are a student applying from an English speaking country or if your first language is English, you must submit your SAT scores in order to be considered for the Freshman Scholarships. For a complete list of Freshman Scholarships click here.

The scholarships listed on this page are for international students for whom English is a second language. You do not need to submit SAT scores for scholarships listed on this page. Please see criteria below.

LIU Post International Students Award

Criteria = Freshman
Entering full-time freshmen who have a high school cumulative average of 95 percent or better and a TOEFL score of at least 600 (paper-based), 250 (computer-based, or 100 (Internet-based), will be considered for the International Scholars Award.
Application

Amount
Eligible undergraduates $6,000 each year for a maximum of four years.

LIU Post International Excellence Award

Criteria = Freshman
Entering full-time freshmen who have a high school cumulative average of 90 percent or better and a TOEFL score of at least 600 (paper-based), 250 (computer-based, or 100 (Internet-based) will be considered for this award.

Amount
Eligible undergraduates may receive $4,000 per year for a maximum of four years.

LIU Post International Incentive Award

Criteria = Freshman
Entering full-time freshmen who have a high school cumulative average of 85 percent or better and a TOEFL score of at least 600 (paper-based), 250 (computer-based, or 100 (Internet-based) will be considered for this award.

Amount
Eligible undergraduates may receive $2,000 per year for a maximum of four years.

International Transfer Student Scholarships

LIU Post Transfer Scholars Award (Fall Entry Only)

Criteria = Transfer
This grant is designed for full-time students transferring with an Associate's Degree (AS or AA) directly from an accredited community college with a cumulative average of 3.9 or better and a TOEFL score of at least 600 (paper-based), 250 (computer-based, or 100 (Internet-based). To be eligible for consideration, students must be full-time and must pay the flat tuition rate. Recipients of this scholarship must participate fully in the Honors and Merit Fellowship Program.

Amount
A limited number of eligible full-time undergraduates receive up to $16,000 per year for a maximum of two years. Awards, including Honors Program funds, require full participation in the Honors and Merit Fellowship Program. Renewal is contingent upon the recipient maintaining acceptable academic performance as determined by LIU Post.

LIU Post Transfer Excellence Award

Criteria = Transfer
This grant is designed for students transferring with 24 or more credits from an accredited college or university who have maintained a cumulative average of 3.75 or better and a TOEFL score of at least 600 (paper-based), 250 (computer-based, or 100 (Internet-based). To be eligible, students must be full-time and must pay the flat tuition rate. Recipients of this scholarship must participate fully in the Honors and Merit Fellowship Program.

LIU Post Transfer Achievement Award

Criteria = Transfer
This grant is designed for students transferring with 12 or more credits from an accredited college or university who have maintained a cumulative average of 3.4 to 3.74 and a TOEFL score of at least 600 (paper-based), 250 (computer-based, or 100 (Internet-based). To be eligible, students must be full-time and must pay the flat tuition rate.

LIU Post Advanced Study Tuition Grant

Criteria = Transfer
This grant is designed for students transferring with 12 or more credits from an accredited college or university with a cumulative average of 3.25 - 3.39 and a TOEFL score of at least 600 (paper-based), 250 (computer-based, or 100 (Internet-based). To be eligible, students must be full-time and must pay the flat tuition rate.

International Graduate Student Scholarships

Graduate Scholars Award

Criteria = Graduate
Incoming graduate students applying for their first or second master's degree who have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better based on all work in their most recent degree from an accredited college or university and a TOEFL score of at least 600 (paper-based), 250 (computer-based, or 100 (Internet-based).
Application
Students with international credentials may be required to submit an evaluation of their transcripts (by a recognized evaluation service) in order to be considered for this award. Application deadlines are: Fall entry - August 1, Spring entry - December 1. Contact the LIU Post Admissions Office at 516-299-2900 for further information.
Amount
Eligible graduates receive $175 grant per credit. Renewal is contingent upon the recipient maintaining acceptable academic performance as determined by LIU Post.

Graduate Academic Award

Criteria = Graduate
Incoming graduate students applying for their first or second master's degree who have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.50 – 3.74 based on all work in their most recent degree from an accredited college or university and a TOEFL score of at least 600 (paper-based), 250 (computer-based, or 100 (Internet-based).
