About LIU Post Ice Hockey

The LIU Post Ice Hockey Club is a co-educational team and a division II member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). The LIU Post Ice Hockey Team plays roughly 25 games a season against opponents from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

Membership/Eligibility

The LIU Post Ice Hockey Team welcomes all levels of skaters from novice to advanced. The club is open to any undergraduate or graduate student. Eligibility for game day competition is limited to full-time students in good academic standing with the University (Undergraduate - 12cr/2.0 cumulative GPA & Graduate - 6cr/3.0 cumulative GPA).

Members are required to pay dues of $1,000 per year (plus additional $220 charge for new members). This fee includes practice and game ice time, dues, travel and the yearly team membership fees.

NOTE:  All club sport participants are required to demonstrate and maintain enrollment in a family or other health insurance plan.  Students who do not have their own health insurance are eligible to purchase the Aetna Student Health Plan.  For more information contact 1-866-654-2682.

Competition

The LIU Post Ice Hockey team is a member of the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) and competes against other schools in the northeast region that are also members of the association. Since 1991, the ACHA has been the central governing body for all non-varsity hockey in the United States and has roughly 420 teams registered in its three men's divisions and two women's divisions. Each season, the ACHA sponsors national championship tournaments in each of its divisions. Past tournament locations have included such diverse sites as Washington, DC, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Atlanta.
