B.S. in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6)
Upper division transfer program for students with Associate Degree or equivalent number of credits
The Bachelor of Science in Childhood Education program prepares students to make a positive contribution to society as a teacher of children in grades 1 to 6. The program is designed for transfer students who have earned an associate degree or a minimum of 60 credits from an accredited two- or four-year college or university. Students complete their freshman and sophomore years at a community college or four-year college and their junior and senior years at Long Island University in Riverhead, N.Y. Transfer students who have not earned the associate degree may be eligible to transfer a maximum of 72 credits for all courses taken at a two-year college, and a maximum of 96 credits from an accredited four-year college.
LIU Riverhead has established a two-plus-two partnership with Suffolk County Community College to offer SCCC graduates the opportunity to seamlessly transfer all credits to LIU Riverhead and complete both the associate degree and the bachelor’s degree in childhood education in a total of four years. Students with associate degrees and credits from other colleges and universities are welcome to apply to the program. Please see the Degree Requirements link on the left side of this page for transfer credit information. Long Island University offers generous transfer scholarships.
