New Counseling Lab Opening Ceremony

On Monday, November 7th, the Hudson Graduate Center at Rockland opened its new Counseling Lab. Joining Dr. Sylvia Blake, Academic Dean and Chief Operating Officer, and Dr. Thomas J. Nardi the Director of the Counseling Programs at the Hudson Graduate Center at Rockland for the dedication was the Honorable John Murphy from the Rockland County Legislature. Mr. Murphy has a long and distinguished career supporting care for the mentally ill in Rockland County.

The Counseling Lab provides the Graduate Center’s Mental Health and School Counseling students with a unique training opportunity. The Counseling Lab features a cozy, comfortable consultation room with a two way mirror for students to practice and observe counseling sessions. Students can use the Lab under the direction of one of the Counseling Department’s faculty members. It provides state of the art technology for the students to video record their practice counseling sessions. The sessions are then reviewed with their professors. “As far as I know, we are the only graduate program in this area providing students with a counseling lab,” said Dr. Nardi.
