Crises can take many forms, ranging from natural disasters, such as HurricaneSandy, to man-made disasters such as violent crimes or a terrorist attack. We invite you to attend an informative presentation on crisis management. Notonly is Crisis Management about what should be done during a crisis, but alsoabout the before and after.    

Our first presentation addresses what happens before a crisis. It will explain proactive crisis prevention and management. A young man is in defiance of anorder of protection and announces he is on his way to a college campus to confronthis ex-girlfriend. A crisis team springs into action. Will they be able to prevent afatal showdown?

Our second presentation addresses what happens after a crisis. It will discuss waysof minimizing the emotional damage to children in the aftermath of school violence.As will be demonstrated, there are effective steps that can and should be taken toassist children and adults with debriefing after a crisis.


Mitchell A. Levy, Ph.D. is vice president of Student Affairs at Atlantic Cape Community College. He is a member of the National Behavioral InterventionTeam Association Advisory Board, on the editorial board of the Journal of Behavioral Interventions, and as a professional counselor and director of Counseling Services and Crisis Management.

Thomas J. Nardi, Ph.D. is the director of counseling programs at LIU Hudson at Rockland and West Point. A licensed psychologist, he is also certified in critical incident stress management. Dr. Nardi has had professional articles published in the International Journal of Emergency Mental Health, and has had many articles about dealing with crises published in popular magazines.

Jacquelyn Rizzo, M.S. is a recent graduate of LIU Hudson at Rockland's mental health counseling program.
