A little over two years ago, Folusho Obe of Middletown, N.Y. set out to “advance and enhance” his career as a research scientist by earning a Master of Business Administration degree from the Rockland Graduate Campus of Long Island University in Orangeburg, N.Y.
He received his degree in January, 2006. Today, Obe is a research scientist at Taro Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. in Hawthorne, N.Y. – and has also started his own consulting firm. The M.B.A. program at the Rockland Graduate Campus has opened his career to a world of new possibilities.
“I chose the Rockland Graduate Campus because it provided flexibility in terms of my schedule and convenience in terms of location,” Obe said. “The program has provided me tremendous value in terms of the necessary skills and tools to participate and communicate in the business environment. And the M.B.A. not only gives me the tools – it also gives me credibility.”
The Master of Business Administration degree from the Rockland Graduate Campus is a comprehensive, fast-track program taught by successful business people with many years of management experience. Designed for the working person who studies part-time, the degree takes just 28 months to complete. Classes meet one or two nights each week.
Because classes average just 10 to 15 students, the students benefit from close interaction with their professors. For students in the Fast-Track program, textbooks are free and tuition will not increase during the course of the program, saving each student an estimated $5,000.
The Rockland Graduate Campus M.B.A. emphasizes the development of personal leadership qualities; the ability to communicate well and work effectively with people; strategic thinking, financial analysis, and other problem-solving skills; sensitivity to multi-cultural, diversity, and ethical issues, and a robust understanding of a wide range of business subjects.
“The overall knowledge that you gain from an M.B.A. education is very helpful across all lines of the organization,” said Jerry Christie of Pearl River, N.Y., controller of Internet retail company D.O.D. Marketing Inc. based in Brooklyn. Christie, who holds an M.B.A. from the Rockland Graduate Campus, continued, “It allows you to interface with everyone from the CEO to the warehouse.”
Students in the fast-track M.B.A. program study as a cohort. By progressing through the program together, they develop teamwork and communication skills highly valued in the business environment.
To learn more about the M.B.A. program, interested student should come to one of the Rockland Graduate Campus Open Houses – Sunday, April 30, 2006 from noon to 3 p.m. or Monday, May 1, 2006 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Faculty and staff will be on hand to discuss admissions and degree requirements, financial aid and more.
