Long Island University to Host LitLink Writing Seminar

Orangeburg, NY — The Rockland Graduate Campus of Long Island University will host “Strategies and Skills,” a writing instruction seminar, on Monday, December 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sponsored by LitLife, a renowned educational organization based in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, the workshop will be held at the Rockland Campus in Orangeburg, N.Y. The seminar is fee is $145.
The workshop will be conducted by Jenny Bender, a LitLife team leader and author of “The Resourceful Writing Teacher: A Handbook of Essential Skills and Strategies.” Her experience in the classroom and as a mentor for hundreds of teachers has given her unique insight on the best skills and strategies for educating students in the area of writing instruction.
The seminar will provide helpful information, including tips for how to help students revise and craft in multiple genre, and writing in narrative and non-narrative formats. Also included will be suggestions for best practice lessons on craft and various ways to encourage student writings. Bender will share her best tips for a “writer's toolbox,” and use her expertise to explain the very best skills and strategies to teach students in the area of writing instruction. Seminar participants will leave with a fresh ideas that can be used for their own teaching and a deeper understanding of the full complement of skills and strategies students need to become truly independent as writers.
The workshop will be targeted toward teachers of students in grades K-5.
