Open House at Rockland Graduate Campus of Long Island University March 26

Orangeburg, N.Y. – Free information sessions for people interested in becoming certified as a teacher or licensed as a mental health counselor will be offered at the Rockland Graduate Campus of Long Island University Open House on Thursday, March 26, 2009 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Directors of academic programs, admissions and financial aid will be available to answer questions about master's degree programs, and the $30 application fee to the Rockland Graduate Campus will be waived for people who attend the Open House. A teacher certification process information session will be held at 4:30 p.m. and an information session on mental health counseling licensure will be held at 5 p.m.

The Rockland Graduate Campus offers master's degrees and advanced certificates in business administration, education, health administration, public administration, gerontology, mental health counseling, school counseling and school and district leadership. New programs include the Master of Science in education with a specialization in adolescence education (grades 7-12) designed for career-changers looking to become certified teachers, and the Master of Science in special education with a concentration in autism.

The Rockland Graduate Campus provides a quality education to working professionals. The small campus setting features faculty members who are experts in their fields, a low student-to-faculty ratio and an excellent career and academic advising. Courses are offered in the late afternoons, evenings and on weekends to afford working students an opportunity to balance their educational objectives with family and business demands.
