Rockland Graduate of Long Island University Announces the Appointment of a New Program Director of Pharmaceutics

Orangeburg, N.Y. – Carmen L. Bowen has been appointed director of the pharmaceutics program at the Rockland Graduate Campus of Long Island University.
Bowen has more than 17 years of experience in the biotech, diagnostics and pharmaceutics industries, with expertise in research, product development and product management. Most recently, she was the senior product manager at Strativa Pharmaceuticals, a division of Par Pharmaceutical. She brings to the academic position at Long Island University an extensive knowledge of the industry and the needs of trained specialists in pharmaceutics.
Bowen earned her B.S. at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, her M.S. at UMASS Medical School/WPI and an MBA in health sector management at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. She was recognized by the Charcot-Marie Tooth Disease Association for her set up of the first DNA diagnostic test for CMT disease.
As a health care professional, Ms. Bowen will take over the academic administration of the growing Master of Science degree program in pharmaceutics which offers two specializations, industrial pharmacy and cosmetic science. According to Dr. Nancy Low Hogan, associate provost of the Rockland Graduate Campus, “Carmen Bowen will bring her vast experience in the pharmaceutics industry both in the classroom and in academic administration of this graduate program at our campus. We are thrilled to have her join our faculty.”
