Kids on Meds: Is Psychiatric Medicine Right for Your Child?

(Feb. 23, 2015)—LIU Hudson, located on the grounds of Purchase College, in cooperation with Chapter 615 of the Council of Exceptional Children, is presenting Dr. Kevin T. Kalikow, who will discuss how psychiatric disorders are diagnosed in children and adolescents, and how to weigh the risks and benefits of medication.
Dr. Kalikow, the author of Kids on Meds: Up-to-Date Information About the Most Commonly Prescribed Psychiatric Medications and Your Child in the Balance: Solving the Psychiatric Medicine Dilemma, is a child/adolescent psychiatrist who has been in practice for thirty years.
Dr. Kalikow is currently Clinical Assistant Professor in Child Psychiatry at New York Medical College. He also teaches at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He has been interviewed and quoted in numerous publications, including The New York Times, and has been interviewed on radio and television.
A Q-and-A session will follow immediately after the presentation, and Dr. Kalikow’s books will be available for purchase.
