B. Pharm, MJP Rohilkhand University, IndiaPh.D. (Pharmaceutical Sciences), Idaho State University

Description

Dr. Vikas Sehdev is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology. Prior to joining the faculty of the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Sehdev was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Surgery and Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Tennessee, where he was involved in projects in areas ranging from identification of novel therapeutic targets to characterization of investigational anticancer drugs, drug resistance and invasion to mechanisms suppressing cellular apoptosis. As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Dr. Sehdev gave several podium presentations at internationally recognized research conferences and received merit awards for his research. In addition, his translational research work on AURKA inhibitor, alone and in combinations with Cisplatin and Docetaxel, has contributed towards applications for new clinical trials. Dr. Sehdev earned a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the College of Pharmacy and Biomedical Research Institute, Idaho State University, Idaho, USA. As a graduate student he conducted research on breast cancer and investigated the effect of isoflavones on oncogenic signaling pathways regulating cellular redox state, growth, survival and invasion in breast cancer cells. During his Ph.D, Dr. Sehdev presented his work at various conferences and received multiple graduate student scholarships. Dr. Sehdev is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) and American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). Dr. Sehdev received a Bachelor’s of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) from M.J.P. Rohilkhand University (Uttar Pradesh, India). As an undergraduate he underwent industrial training at Ranbaxy Research Laboratories, India.

Dr. Sehdev’s primary areas of interest include identification and characterization of novel therapeutic targets and investigational agents for the treatment of Upper Gastrointestinal Adenocarcinoma. Dr. Sehdev’s research has led to several publications and presentations at national and international meetings.
