LIU Riverhead Student Gregory T. Maloney of Garden City, N.Y. Named Finalist in Presidential Management Fellows Program

Riverhead, N.Y. – Gregory T. Maloney, a student in the Homeland Security Management Institute at LIU Riverhead, has been named a finalist for the prestigious Presidential Management Fellows Program, a rigorous two-year fellowship which is a stepping stone to highly visible and respected leadership positions in the federal government.
Out of approximately 9,100 applicants he was one of the 628 who will be members of the PMF Class of 2012. As a finalist, he will be interviewed by a variety of government entities at a job fair this spring, and if selected will receive two years of paid employment as a Fellow; the vast majority of those fellowships wind up with offers of permanent employment.
Mr. Maloney is working on his thesis as a student in the Master of Science in Homeland Security Management program at LIU Riverhead. He is a magna cum laude graduate of the Liberal Arts Honors Program at Providence College, with a baccalaureate in history (2010), where he received the Rev. Cornelius Forster Award for Excellence in European History. Mr. Maloney has been a Congressional Aide for Rep. Peter T. King, the Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee. He is currently interning in the Intelligence Division at the Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor, a coveted and highly competitive opportunity.
