Welcome from the Associate Provost
I would like to welcome you to the LIU community! As the only private University serving Long Island's east end, we are uniquely positioned to provide both the personal and friendly atmosphere of a small college with the educational resources of one of the nation's largest independent universities. We are proud of our partnership with Suffolk County Community College in Riverhead, where our academic facilities are located to serve local residents.
Master's degree programs in childhood education, literacy education and teaching students with disabilities are taught by dedicated, experienced faculty who are committed to our students' success as both current and future educators.
The upper-division Bachelor of Science in Childhood Education and the upper-division Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies – New Media provide students who have earned an associate degree or the equivalent of two years of college credit with the opportunity to earn a bachelor's degree without having to leave the east end of Long Island. Graduates of Suffolk County Community College who are admitted into one of these programs enjoy a seamless transfer of their credits and generous tuition scholarships.
LIU Riverhead also is home to the Homeland Security Management Institute (HSMI), which offers a distinguished online master's degree and advanced certificate and the Advanced Certificate in Cyber Security Policy in this vital field. The HSMI is recognized as a national leader in homeland security management education and was designated by Congress as a National Security Center of Excellence. The fully online delivery of our program allows us to attract the best and brightest, in both students and faculty, from all over the world.
Since its opening in September 2006, LIU Riverhead has become a thriving educational institution, fostering intellectual growth and opportunity in the spirit of our mission of access and excellence in education. I invite you to call, write or visit us to learn more about how the staff and faculty at Long Island University can help you reach your educational goals.
