So I've been admitted to LIU Global, now what?
Congratulations on your acceptance to LIU Global! You have made an excellent decision in pursuing an experiential education. The LIU Global curriculum is committed to examining a new set of issues that are global in nature. As a student, you will gain skills, knowledge and the practical experience that will enable you to contribute positively to our rapidly globalizing world. The information below should help you navigate the next steps in your journey from accepted to enrolled and ready to being this exciting academic journey.

1. Reach Out to Current Student Email Buddies and Social Media
While this step is optional, we strongly encourage you to make connections with current LIU Global students. They are excellent resources of practical information about the LIU Global experience and are excited to help you in your decision-making process. For a list of students and their contact information, send an email to email@example.com. Finally, we invite you to explore our social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube Channel, and Medium) to learn more about our students' experiences in our different LIU Global locations around the world.
2. Pay Your Tuition Deposit
Pay the $200 deposit online through your myliu account. The acceptance package admissions sent you contains information on how you activate your myliu account and make the deposit (please see #7 below). After you deposit, download and complete the New Student Registration/Enrollment Form and email the completed form to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have any questions, contact the Admissions Office at 718-488-1011.
Deadlines to submit Tuition Deposit and New Student Registration/Enrollment Form:
May 1 for Fall enrollment
November 1 for Spring enrollment
If these dates have passed, the deposit deadline is two weeks after the receipt of the letter of admission.
3. Submit FAFSA and Create a Financial Plan
(for U.S. citizens and/or permanent residents only)
If you have not already completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), we urge you to do so immediately. Log on to fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA is used to apply for federal, New York State and university grants, scholarships and other financial aid.
If you have already applied and received your Financial Aid package, then confirm it. Before you are able to establish a financial plan, be sure that you have taken the necessary steps to secure all financial aid you are eligible to receive. If you have followed the necessary financial aid application steps and have responded to requests from Student Financial Services, you can be sure that you will have a financial aid package that is designed to help you through your LIU Global education.
Create a financial plan. Financial aid will cover a portion of your tuition, fees and room and board. Visit the Scholarship Assistance page to learn about alternative ways to finance your education. It is a good idea to talk with your family about other ways to finance your education. Contact Student Financial Services to discuss a reasonable payment plan that will help you to manage your financial balance.

4. Submit All Required Enrollment and Health Forms

5. Get Travel Documents And Purchase Flight
If you do not already have one, obtain a passport. If you already have one, ensure that it is valid and that the expiration date meets the criteria of the country where you will be studying. Visit the travel.state.gov website for instructions and guidelines regarding passports. Remember that it can take up to six weeks to receive a new passport so be sure to submit your paperwork as soon as possible. You must submit a copy of the information page of your passport to the Office of Student Services in New York.
Apply for your VISA (if applicable). Read through the visa and travel information that is provided for our centers and programs. Requirements and international travel restrictions vary widely and can affect processing time so be sure to start this process as soon as possible. If you are an international student, you are responsible for obtaining visa information for each country you will be visiting during your term(s) with LIU Global.
Purchase your flight. Check the orientation section of the website for detailed instructions on which flight to purchase.
6. Submit Final Transcripts/Score Reports
Submit all final, official academic transcripts and AP/CLEP/IB records to the Office of Admissions. In order for you to begin classes, you must provide all final, official academic records. In addition, failure to inform the office of such credit will impact placement within the program, proper sequencing and may affect graduation requirements.
7. Set Up Your My LIU Account
After you are accepted to LIU Global, you will be able to activate your My LIU account. You will also be able to submit your $200 non-refundable tuition deposit online however the enrollment form must be sent via mail. Your My LIU account gives you access to your course schedule, grades, financial aid, and billing information and access to online course registration for future semesters. To activate your account, go to webapps.liu.edu/accountsetup/Identify.aspx. You will create a user name and password (use your social security number or your LIU ID which was included on your acceptance letter). You can use My LIU to register for future semesters, check your grades, pay your bill online, and designate individuals (such as your parents) to view your tuition bill.
Once you are enrolled in LIU Global, you must use MyLIU as your official e-mail address. Tell your friends and family they can e-mail you at email@example.com, unless you have a common name, then your last name might have a number after it. All official LIU Global correspondence will be sent to your MyLIU email address. When you correspond via email with any LIU office, you must use your MyLIU email address. The university will not acknowledge emails from enrolled students who use a personal email address.
8. Read Your Center Handbooks
The center/program handbook will be emailed to you by the Center/Program Director before the semester begins. It contains a lot of useful information about studying and living in that particular location. Share with your parents and/or other family members.
