Extended Day Aphasia Center
The Extended Day Aphasia Center is the only program of its kind in the New York area. 2 or 4-hour programs are available and are aimed at enhanced social communication and stressing supported communication in a group setting.
Additional Adult Services
Individual evaluations: Evaluations are available for adults to assess speech and language skills.
Individual Services: Individual therapy designed to improve listening, speech, language, reading, writing and memory. The goals are individualized and target the recovery of function and the development of compensatory strategies to aid in day to day communication situations. Clients have the option of a 30, 45 or 60-minutes session.
Stroke group: One-hour group session aimed at improving functional co-communication skills in a social environment
Train Your Brain: One-hour group session that provides cognitive therapy geared towards each clients’ level of impairment and individual needs.
Memory Group: One-hour group session that helps clients with an acquired brain injury learn to develop and apply internal and external memory strategies to help promote improved functioning.
Tech Group: One-hour session were clients work individually with clients on the technology skills of their choice. Options may include the use of their cell phones, I-Pads and/or laptops.
Parkinson’s Group: One-hour group session in which clients perform various exercises to promote functional skills in a supportive environment.
Conversational Partners: A free 30-minute weekly session for clients to participate in conversational practice with a thoughtful listener. The group is designed as a supplement to speech therapy.
Caregiver Support Group: A free one-hour group for the caregivers of our clients in which provides a safe and supportive environment for participants to discuss the stresses, day-to-day challenges and rewards of caring for a loved one.
Communication Improvement: Individual or small group personalized program is geared for people who speak English as a second language. The program is designed to help improve the production of speech sounds, build vocabulary and improve patterns of spoken English.
Individual evaluations: Evaluations are available for children of all ages to assess speech and language skills.
Individual Services: Individual sessions target the child’s specific goals and the clinicians work with the child’s caregivers to help facilitate carryover of skills learned in therapy in order to optimize his/her success. Caregivers have the option to opt for a 30, 45 or 60-minutes session.
CPack: Chat Pack is a thematic, language based play group for children 16 months to 5 years of age which encourages children to understand and use words while making exciting discoveries in a nurturing environment.
Pragmatic Language AfterNoon Support (PLANS): PLANS is a unique social group designed for school-age children which focuses on improving social language skills and language-based social thinking in a fun supportive small group setting.
Phonemic Awareness and Literacy Support (PALS): PALS is a program that targets phonemic awareness skills, such as rhyming, sound blending, segmenting, manipulation and language comrehension for children in grades K-2.
