Accreditation
The academic programs of LIU Riverhead are registered with the New York State Education Department and accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104, (215) 662-5606. The Commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP)
LIU Riverhead's Teacher Education Program, which is designed to provide excellence in initial and professional teacher education programs in childhood education, literacy education and teaching students with disabilities, is a member in good standing of the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP), a national accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. The programs listed below have been awarded full accreditation by AAQEP through December 31, 2031. Accreditation acknowledges that a program prepares effective educators who continue to grow as professionals and has demonstrated the commitment and capacity to maintain quality.
