National Film & Broadcasting Challenge

Celebrate the power of storytelling through Film, TV, and Broadcasting. This challenge honors students with the creativity and technical ability to captivate an audience.

  • Upload a Media Sample in film, television, or broadcasting. Examples may include short films, video clips, scripts, podcasts, or broadcast reels.

1. Contest Rules

Each National Scholarship Challenge (the “Contest”) is administered by Long Island University (“LIU”). By entering, all entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules.




2. Eligibility

  • Contest is open to legal residents of the United States who are currently enrolled as juniors or seniors in a U.S. high school (or equivalent).
  • Entrants must hold a 90+ GPA (on a 100-point scale or equivalent).
  • Entrants must upload a copy of their resume/statement of activities.
  • Each Challenge includes specific submission requirements (e.g., research project, essay, video, or portfolio) as described in the Appendix below.
  • Prizes are contingent upon admission to Long Island University. Scholarship awards will only be applied if the student is accepted to LIU and enrolled for a future academic term.
  • Employees, officers, and directors of LIU, its affiliates, subsidiaries, and their immediate family members are not eligible.
  • Void where prohibited or restricted by law.



3. Submission Rules

  • Each entrant (or team, where applicable) may submit one (1) entry per Challenge.
  • Submissions must be original works created by the entrant(s).
  • Entries must not contain confidential information, infringe third-party rights, or include unsuitable content (e.g., obscenity, defamation, harassment, hate speech, or unlawful material).
  • Submissions may be moderated for appropriateness and compliance.
  • All entries must be submitted in English.



4. Application Process

  • To enter, complete the registration form on the official Contest Site and upload all required materials before the deadline.
  • Proof of high school enrollment and good standing may be requested from finalists.
  • Late, incomplete, or non-compliant entries will not be considered.



5. Contest Period

  • Contest Opens: September 15, 2025 (12:00 a.m. EST)
  • Submission Deadline: November 15, 2025 (11:59 p.m. EST)
  • Judging Period: November 16–29, 2025
  • Winners Announced: November 30, 2025

All entries must be received by the submission deadline. Late or incomplete entries will not be accepted. LIU’s servers are the official time-keeping devices for the Contest.




6. Judging

  • Eligible entries will be evaluated by a judging panel selected by LIU.
  • Criteria for judging may include creativity, originality, execution, impact, and alignment with the Challenge theme.
  • Judges’ decisions are final and binding in all matters.
  • Some Challenges may also include a public voting round, as noted on the contest site.



7. Prizes

  • Prizes for each Challenge are listed on the official contest site (e.g., $25,000 scholarships, or $10,000 scholarships).
  • Scholarships apply only to tuition at LIU and may be subject to additional conditions of enrollment and academic standing.
  • Prizes are non-transferable and not redeemable for cash.



8. Rights Granted by Entrants

By entering, you grant LIU and its licensees the right to use your name, likeness, school, submitted work, and any related media for promotional, marketing, and educational purposes, in any medium, without further compensation.




9. General Conditions

  • LIU reserves the right to verify eligibility, disqualify entries, or cancel/amend the Contest for any reason, including technical issues, fraud, or other factors beyond its control.
  • Entrants are responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes related to prizes.
  • Each entrant must consult their own tax advisor regarding the consequences of receiving a scholarship.



10. Privacy

The information you provide will be used for the administration of the Contest and may be shared with LIU affiliates for related promotional purposes. Personal information will not be sold to third parties.




11. Liability Release

By submitting an entry, entrants agree to release and hold harmless LIU, its officers, employees, affiliates, and agents from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from participation in the Contest, use of submissions, or acceptance/use of any prize.




12. Disputes

All disputes will be governed by the laws of the State of New York and must be resolved individually, without resort to class actions, in courts located in New York.
