What is tuition?
How is the program delivered?

The mode of delivery for the MPA program is primarily classroom: a few courses are available in hybrid modes. All required core classes are currently taught only in classrooms.

Enrollments, Placements and Completion Rates

During Fall 2019, there were 146 MPA students in the two specializations (72 Health administration; 74 Public Administration). For the Fall 2015 admissions cohort, 27% of the students graduated with two years and 68% graduated within four years. Based on our Spring 2020 survey of exiting students, 82% of students are employed, 40% within City Government, 24% in the non-profit or independent sector and 36% in the private sector.

How long does it take to complete the program?

Our graduation rate presumes a two-year degree program length. Our program and curriculum is geared toward students graduating in more than two years.  Given that fact a majority of students graduate in 3 or 4 years.

Where do students intern?

The MPA program does not have an internship requirement, however, the program allows students to engage in an internship for credit. For-credit internships are strongly recommended for our pre-service students. The MPA program offers three internship courses: MPA 788 (fall semester), MPA 789 (spring semester), and MPA 790 (summer semester). A student may complete a maximum of six credits of internship to be used as specialization credits in public administration or health administration. To earn three credits student must serve as an intern at an approved organization for a minimum of 300 hours over the course of a semester. The design of the internship links the learning experience to the student’s area of specialization.

Due to the fact that an internship is not required for graduation, we did not have students undertake an internship in the self-study year. However, we have had three students undertake an internship over the two academic years prior to the self-study year.

  • Greater New York Hospital Association Summer Enrichment Program: Mount Sinai Health System
  • Administrative Intern: New York Family Dental Care
  • Purchasing Card (P-Card) Program Intern: New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services
