Description

Cory K. Chen is a Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychology and the Ph.D. Program in Clinical Psychology in the School of Health Professions at Long Island University, Brooklyn. Dr. Chen is also a faculty member at the New York University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry where he helps to coordinate didactics and electives on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and Integrative Psychotherapy. Dr. Chen is also Co-Chief of Telepsychology and Director of the Psychotherapy Research and Development Program at the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System’s Margaret Cochran Corbin Campus. He is also Director of Research and Quality Improvement for the VISN2/NYH Clinical Resource Hub’s Psychology Service. Dr. Chen’s research attempts to better understand how to reach patients currently not helped by existing mental health treatments and services. Specifically, he studies treatment non-response in depression and trauma and is involved in the development and evaluation of new treatments for non-responders. Dr. Chen also studies the use of technology to expand access and enhance mental health treatment. His work has been supported by the National Institute on Aging/National Institute of Health, VA Health Services Research and Development, American Psychoanalytic Association, International Psychoanalytical Association, Weill Cornell Clinical and Translational Science Center, VA Office of Rural Health, VA Office of Geriatrics and Extended Care, VA Office of Connected Care, and the NYU Program for Medical Education, Innovation, and Research.
