What is the purpose of New Student Orientation?
There are several goals of the New Student Orientation Program:

Do I stay overnight during New Student Orientation?
First-year resident students will reside in their assigned residence hall during First-Year Student Orientation. First-year commuter students do not stay overnight. Transfer and Graduate Student Orientation is a one-day program.
Are the International Student Pre-Arrival Sessions separate from New Student Orientation?
Yes! The International Student Pre-Arrival Session is a separate event that is strongly encouraged for new first-year, transfer, and graduate international students. The International Student Pre-Arrival Session covers immigration rules and benefits, health and medical insurance issues, and other important resources for international students. There are multiple sessions before the start of each semester. International students must also register for either First-Year, or Transfer and Graduate Student Orientation. Visit our International Student Pre-Arrival Sessions website to register.
What is Parent and Family Orientation?
Parent and Family Orientation is a time for parents and families to learn more about Long Island University and better understand the experiences their student will soon encounter. Parent and Family Orientation is strongly encouraged. A maximum of two guests per student may attend. Visit our Parent and Family Orientation website to register.
What if I am a family member who needs to stay overnight?
