Our Residential Life Team is committed to providing you with the resources to make your stay at Long Island University feel like home.

Below are some tips on what to and not to bring when arriving on campus.

  • Bed and Bath
    Area Rug, Blanket, Comforter, Compact Refrigerator, Extra-Long Twin Sheets, Hangers, Lamp & Bulbs (non-halogen), Mattress Pad, Mirror-Full Length, Pillow(s) and Pillow Cases, Shower Caddy, Shower Shoes or Flip Flops, Towels and Washcloths, Trash Can

  • Laundry Supplies
    Detergent, Fabric Softener, Iron, Ironing Board, Laundry Basket

  • Hygiene & Toiletries
    Cleaning Supplies, First Aid Kit, Hair Dryer, Prescription Medications, Soap & Shampoo, Toothbrush & Toothpaste

  • Technology
    Chargers, Laptop or Computer, Surge Protector, Television

  • Miscellaneous
    Books, Desk Supplies, Pictures and Room Décor

  • Portable heaters, heating blankets, candles, or incense
  • Halogen lights and lamps
  • Hot pots, microwaves, hot plates, toasters, electric frying pans, sandwich grills, waffle irons, small or large grills, coffee pots, and the like
  • High voltage refrigerators (maximum allowable wattage is 3.2 (cubic feet)
  • Extension cords or multi-receptacle outlets
  • Flammable and combustible liquids; propane, gasoline, paint thinner, charcoal, and lighter fluid
  • Live pine
  • Pets
  • Air conditioners
