Jérôme Cachot

Jérôme Cachot is Professor in environmental toxicology at the University of Bordeaux and researcher at EPOC Laboratory (UMR 5805 CNRS - University of Bordeaux-EPHE). He obtained his PhD in Ecotoxicology in 1998 from the University of Aix-Marseille II. He has worked for several years at the Laboratory of Ecotoxicology (University of Le Havre), investigating mutagenic and carcinogenic effects of organic pollutants on fish and molluscs. In 2007, he moved to the University of Bordeaux and initiated a new research program dealing with mode of action and effects of pollutants in mixture on embryo-larval stages of marine and fresh water fish and molluscs. He developed new analytical approaches for evaluating contamination and effects of pollutants in early life stages of fish and bivalves. He has worked for several years on the toxic effects of PAHs and metals and recently moved to emerging pollutants such as drugs, new pesticides and microplastics. He is the author of 101 peer-reviewed publications including 14 about contamination and impact of microplastics on marine fish and invertebrates. To date, he has supervised 20 PhD students, and has been involved in more than 41 national and international research projects in the field of aquatic toxicology.
