Dr. Peter J. Snyder currently serves as the Vice President for Research and Economic Development, and as a Professor of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Research, at the University of Rhode Island. Professor Snyder manages an active research program in the field of Alzheimer's disease, and he is the Editor-in-Chief for one of the major journals in this field, in addition to his administrative duties at the university. In his university leadership role, Dr. Snyder has created and led the launch of the URI's first "signature research initiative", the Plastics: Land to Sea COLAB (www.plastics.uri.edu). This campus wide effort now involves nearly 50 faculty and global partnerships to identify pathways to mitigating human contamination of our environment with microplastics.
