Michael Katz, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at LIU Post. Michael received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Derner School of Psychology at Adelphi University in 2020 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital’s World Trade Center Mental Health Program. His research interests focus on examining the relationship between specific techniques and outcome within psychodynamic psychotherapy, adherence and flexibility in the implementation of psychotherapies and particularly psychodynamic therapy. He is also interested in patients’ experiences around crying in psychotherapy and the relationship between these experiences and change in therapy, the working alliance, and attachment styles. Clinically, he has extensive experience in psychotherapy with trauma, first responders, and with college/graduate students.
