Description: Dr. Lewis has been an RN for over 45 years and a Certified Nurse Midwife Nurse for 26 years. Dr. Lewis has extensive experience in the education of hospital nursing while serving as the Director of Education for 16 years at a local hospital. She has extensive knowledge in the obstetric field and held the additional role of maternal-child educator while serving as the director of the department. Dr. Lewis is an instructor for both AWHONN intermediate and advanced fetal monitor. Since 2019, Dr. Lewis was responsible for providing the education for the nationally recognized AWHONN Fetal Monitor Course to over 200 novice labor and delivery nurses, all newly hired from a major healthcare system. In addition, she provided six certification review classes in the various obstetric sub-specialties, for the same health system, achieving a passing rate of 99%, empowering over 150 nurses to lay claim to the “certification” title. Currently, Dr. Lewis provided AWHONN intermediate classes to the NYC Health and Hospital System nurses, physicians, physician assistants, and midwives with positive results. Dr. Lewis has worked with various colleges and universities in an adjunct capacity since 2004. In 2022, Dr. Lewis joined LIU School of nursing, providing education for both the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.
