Description
I am a senior professor and former department chairperson with the graduate Department of Educational Leadership, Technology and Administration, as well as the first director of our Ed.D. program in Interdisciplinary Educational Studies, now known as Transformational Leadership. I serve as a dissertation chairperson and committee member for numerous students in our doctoral program. I am also the past president and past vice president of the Long Island University Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa and also the recipient of their award for research.
Additionally, I have been an active member in numerous national, regional, state, and local professional and research associations. I have presented papers on educational administration, teacher job satisfaction, school climate, communication styles, retirement options after school administration, faculty meetings, and improving classroom instruction at international, national, regional, and state educational and research organizations. I won the ASCD (Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development) Outstanding Dissertation of the Year Award for my work on teacher job satisfaction. I also served as the President of the Collegiate Association for the Development of Educational Administration in New York State and received their distinguished service award for outstanding leadership and I was the chairperson for the Special Interest Group on School Climate for the Eastern Educational Research Association. In addition, I served as the Director for Geographic Regions for the Association for the Advancement of Educational Research. My articles have appeared in Educational and Psychological Measurement, Principal, and Clearing House. Recently, I co-authored a book with Dr. Jan Hammond on the Dos and Don’ts of Completing Your Ed.D. Dissertation. I wrote an Annotated Bibliography and Guide to Research on Teacher Job Satisfaction; co-authored three books with Dr. Lloyd K. Bishop on Tests and Measurements in Education and the Social Sciences (Dr. Hammond and I have a contract for the fourth edition); and co-authored a Case Study Book in Educational Administration with Dr. Marcia Norton. In addition, I co-authored a book on Field-Based Learning for School Administrators with a faculty member from the Brooklyn Campus of LIU.
