Praised for his "elegant and pure sound" (Saxophone Journal) and noted as "versatile and virtuosic" (Fanfare Magazine), Saxophonist Timothy Ruedeman has performed with the New York Philharmonic, Charleston Symphony, Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, Bridgeport Symphony, Long Island Philharmonic, New Jersey Pops, and is a founding member of Flexible Music and the New Hudson Saxophone Quartet.
Mr. Ruedeman has appeared as soloist for the New York Philharmonic CONTACT! series, Greenwich Symphony, Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, Metamorphosis Orchestra, the S.E.M. Ensemble, and Hanover Winds. The Philadelphia Inquirer wrote, "Tim Ruedeman's saxophone solos were the evening’s tour de force."
Winner of the 2004 Olga Koussevitzky competition, recent performance highlights include: Metropolitan Museum of Art Celebrating Sax Exhibit, Lincoln Center Festival, Mostly Mozart Festival, soundScape festival (Macagno, Italy), and Kennedy Center. New Music performances with: Absolute Ensemble, I.C.E., Argento Ensemble, American Composers Alliance, Composer Concordance, Wet Ink, and North-South Consonance. Commercial and Jazz performances with: Todd Rundgren, M. Ward, David Foster, Christopher Cross, Lou Gramm of Foreigner, Denny Laine of Wings, and the Walkmen and has appeared on Late Show with David Letterman and Live with Michael and Kelly.
Dr. Ruedeman serves on the faculty of NYU, LIU Post, William Paterson U. and visiting faculty at the Oberlin Conservatory.
