Description

Linda L. Vila has been teaching in the Department of Health Care & Public Administration since 1997. Prior to her full-time faculty appointment at LIU, Linda served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for a large health care network in Brooklyn and Queens. She also held the positions of Vice President for Risk Management at another Brooklyn health system and Director of Risk Management for the New York City Health & Hospitals Corporation. Linda began her legal career with an appointment as judicial law clerk to the Honorable Salvatore Bovino, J.S.C., Hudson County Family Part, Jersey City, New Jersey. Linda teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department including but not limited to: Legal Aspects of Health Care Administration; Administrative Responsibility and the Legal Environment in the Health Sector; Hospitals & Health Care Organizations; Management of Health Care Organizations; Critical Issues in the Health Care and Public Sectors. She mentors students for their graduate thesis. Linda teaches for the Honors College at Post and serves as an adjunct faculty member at St. John’s University School of Law where she teaches Health Law and Bioethics. Linda’s research interests include health care risk management, health administration management models and health care ethics.
