Psychological Services Center


Psychological Services Center (PSC)The Psychological Services Center (PSC) is a private, nonprofit mental health facility operated by the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at LIU Post. The clinic operates with the objectives of providing diverse psychological services to all members of the local community as well as serving as a training facility for LIU Post Clinical Psychology Doctoral candidates.

The PSC is staffed by second-year graduate students earning their doctoral degrees in clinical psychology. The graduate student-therapist’s work is closely supervised by licensed clinical psychologists who are faculty members of the Department of Psychology, as well as licensed clinical psychologists from the Long Island community who serve as Adjunct Clinical Supervisors.

Description

Fran Dalis., Director of the Psychological Services Center and associate professor of psychology, specializing in psychodynamic, child-centered, and play therapy interventions with children and adolescents, emerging adults, and clinical supervision/mentorship—former Director of Clinical Training of the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program. Current scholarly and research interests include interventions for gender differences in autism spectrum disorder and affirmative care for LGBTQ populations.

She received her master’s in social work from Adelphi University in 2004 and her New York State License (LMSW) in 2005. Dr. Dalis is a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S) and received her Psy.D from Long Island University in 2019 and her New York State License in Psychology in 2020. Dr. Dalis is a graduate of the postdoctoral fellowship in Child, Adolescent, and Family Psychotherapy from the Gordan F Derner School of Psychology at Adelphi University. See link

 Orly Calderon, PsyD., an associate professor at the Clinical Psychology Program at Long Island University, is the Director of Assessment at the PSC. She oversees all assessment activities at the PSC, including maintaining an up-to-date, state of arts inventory of assessment measures, and providing direct supervision to all GSts who conduct assessment at the PSC. For more than 20 years, she has been combining her teaching and scholarly work with clinical work, focusing on psychological evaluations and advocacy for individuals with ADHD and learning disabilities in the educational and criminal justice systems, respectively.
