Jeff Lederer, DirectorThe LIU Post Jazz Ensemble places a strong emphasis on individual and collective improvisation as well as the study of classic and contemporary literature from Basie and Ellington to Thad Jones and Maria Schneider. The LIU Post Jazz Ensemble has performed and collaborated with such legendary artists as Paquito D’Rivera, Clark Terry, Eddie Palmieri, Billy Taylor, and Maynard Ferguson. In October 2014, Jazz Ensemble performed for Wynton Marsalis, internationally renowned trumpeter and Musical Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center. The LIU Post Jazz Ensemble in collaboration with Tilles Center hosts annually its Jazz Day featuring workshops, master classes, and performances by LIU Post jazz faculty as well as guest clinicians and renowned performing artists. The LIU Post Jazz Ensemble is committed to community outreach and has been featured at international jazz festivals, Manhattan jazz clubs, and at the NYSSMA Winter Conference.
