About the Program

Since 1985 the LIU Post Academic Resource Program has helped college students with a variety of learning disabilities and/or AD/HD to succeed academically. We believe that each student is an individual and, as such, brings a variety of experiences to the learning environment; many of these experiences have an impact on classroom performance.

Our staff is committed to working with each individual student enrolled in our Program to help him or her learn the strategies and skills needed not only to transition and succeed in college, but also in the years beyond college. Our staff will provide each student with the opportunity, structure, and support necessary to help him or her develop the academic, social, problem-solving, and strategic skills to achieve their goals.

We accomplish this through our structured program and an approach that is designed to assist the individual student. The key ingredient is, of course, the student and the student's desire to succeed and willingness to be actively involved in our Program.

Admission to our Program is separate and distinct from admission to the University. Upon receipt of an acceptance letter from Admissions, prospective students should contact the LIU Post Learning Center at 516-299-3057 to request an application for our Academic Resource Program.

Prospective students are encouraged to tour the LIU Post Campus and to visit the Learning Support Center for an informational meeting. This session will provide information about the University and the Program. To arrange an information session, please call the Learning Support Center at 516-299-3057. To arrange a campus tour, please call Admissions at 516-299-2900 or visit the Open Houses and Information Sessions link on the Freshman Admissions Web site.
