HEAD COACHES

Kristen Greto

Kristen Greto joined the LIU dance team as head coach in 2020.

Greto has been dancing and training in tap, jazz, ballet and hip-hop for more than 20 years.

Her extensive training allowed her to perform throughout Westchester County and New York City. Notable venues in which she has performed include Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, Barclays Center, Lincoln Center and St. Luke’s Theater.

Greto has been dancing professionally with the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets since 2017.

As an NBA Brooklynette, she serves as a brand ambassador — dancing, performing, traveling and serving the community of Brooklyn.

She has danced internationally with the team in China twice as well as in Mexico.

Prior to her NBA debut, she spent three seasons dancing with the NBA’s G-League Westchester Knicks Dancers, serving as captain for two of those seasons.

Greto was a member of the St. John’s University dance team for four years, and served as captain for two.

During her senior year, the dance team made school history by placing first at the Universal Dance Association College Nationals in the Division 1 Hip-Hop category. Greto helped lead her team to its first-ever national championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports at Disney World.

Since then, she has choreographed and worked with several high school and collegiate dance teams and programs: Sacred Heart University, St. John’s University, Kellenberg Memorial High School and Harrison High School, to name a few.

For the first time in the LIU dance team’s history, Greto and her squad brought home a top-10 finish in the 2021-22 Division 1 Hip Hop category at UDA Nationals in Orlando (sixth place).

Greto graduated from St. John’s University with a bachelor’s degree in communication arts and a minor in business administration. She earned an MBA in executive management from the Peter J. Tobin College of Business. She is a native of White Plains, N.Y.

Troy Allen

Troy Allen joined LIU cheerleading as head coach in August 2023.

Allen brings years of experience and a championship-winning mentality to LIU, having spent the previous 15 years working in the cheerleading industry.

Allen worked with Varsity Spirit as an instructor for UCA and in the corporate office as a university relations account manager. He also had served as coordinator of athletic spirit groups and head cheerleading coach at the University of Mississippi.

During his tenure at Ole Miss, Allen led the Ole Miss All Girl team to a Division 1A All Girl Gameday national championship in 2022.

He has coached incredible athletes along the way, with each of his teams — at the high school and college levels — making finals and placing extremely well.

Allen is a 2013 graduate of Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colo., where he earned a bachelor's degree in sports management.

In addition to serving as a key member of the Mavericks cheerleading team, he was also an athletic administration intern, assisting the associate athletic director and senior woman administrator at CMU in gameday and daily office settings.
