ESports Camp

An experiential camp for all ages and abilities focused on learning games and making players better. Players will receive evaluations and coaching to develop their game play abilities.

For grades 2-8

Focus of camp: Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Techniques: Mastery of Character, Ledge Guarding, Proper Practice Habits.

Potential Drills: One on One Practices, VOD Review

Outcomes: To develop and improve in the chosen esport (SSBU), learn practice habits needed to improve, develop self-discipline in terms of learning a better way to play video games, improve self-esteem through positive feedback, and to have fun.

Potential Daily Camp Schedule:

8:30 AM: Campers begin to arrive
- Where is drop off going to be? There is a summer camp drop off right in front of Hillwood (Post campus) or Connolly (Brooklyn campus). It may be best to use a different drop off point.
- They are allowed free play from 8:30 to 9:15

9:15 AM: Camp Starts (to allow for late comers to not miss out)
- Welcome Kids to the camp, go over the daily assignment and focus.

9:20 AM: Daily Activity #1.
- Will most likely be a review of certain esports or game.
- Potentially a use of esports as a game to develop practice habits

10:50 AM: Review of Daily Activity #1
- Either going through the coding/game development results, having campers share their games or codes
- Review of abilities or actions learned from the game

11:20 AM: Daily Activity #2
- Either a Leadership and Teamwork building event or Esports related

12:50 PM: Review of Daily Activity #2
- Review of what was learned during the day

1:20 PM: Free Play

2:00 PM: Dismissal

John McDermott

John McDermott comes to Brookville after serving as the founding member of the Saint John’s University Esports program in 2018. During his career, he also worked as a head producer and caster for Duo Esports and also was a manager for Eunited League of Legends in 2015.
